Location:

Job Description

Emory University invites applications for the prestigious Tarbutton Interdisciplinary Science Fellowships. These fellowships support outstanding postdoctoral scientists in fields such as physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and computer science, with a preference for candidates whose research spans multiple disciplines. Each fellowship is awarded for up to three years.

Fellows will select one or more faculty mentors from Emory College of Arts and Sciences (ECAS), who will be dedicated to the Fellow’s professional development in all areas of academic training, including research and teaching. The Fellowship provides up to 50% of stipend support, supplemented by an independent research fund, with the remaining stipend and research funding provided by the faculty mentor(s). Fellows will also have access to Emory’s world-class scientific infrastructure, including resources from ECAS, the School of Medicine, Rollins School of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Primate Research Center—both located on the Emory campus—as well as nearby institutions like Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University.

Applicants must hold a PhD by their intended start date. Preference will be given to early-career candidates who will have earned their PhD within one year of their start date. Successful applicants will demonstrate creativity, scientific depth in a relevant field, and a strong rationale for why Emory is the ideal place for the next phase of their training. Candidates are encouraged to contact potential ECAS science faculty mentors prior to submitting their application.
