What you'll do:
You will be part of a global engineering team that caters to learning needs for all associates across the globe at Walmart. The team leverages/implements standard modules as well as builds custom developments that integrate with several systems meant for associate learning related solutions. The solutions developed could potentially enable millions of users achieve efficiency in their day to day processes and thus enable massive cost savings for Walmart.
Your Responsibility shall include:
To be a technical lead, design, develop and lead multiple Business or Technology driven projects with small to medium sized teams to support new functionalities and user experiences.
Play a pivotal role in shaping architectural decisions, championing scalable and efficient solutions to meet present and future needs.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership and mentorship to your teammates, other teams and engineers.
Take ownership, lead and contribute across the technical stack to improve speed of delivery, developer productivity and related goals.
Drive Availability, Quality, Performance, and Resiliency related goals with your team.
Demonstrate craftsmanship and produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
Investigate and build proof-of-concept prototypes utilizing new technologies and drive their adoption within the mainstream product.
Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity, product quality and efficiency.
Build, leverage, and analyze tools, application logs, and analytics data to determine improvements to the product and engineering services.
Set high standards for operational excellence and system observability.
Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and inclusivity within the team.
What you'll bring:
8+ years of strong programming skills in Java/Python for building services, and SQL/No-SQL.
5+ years experience in software design and programming languages, such as Java, Python (using Flask/FastAPI), and JavaScript.
5+ years experience with software build management tools like Maven, Gradle, or similar.
5+ years experience with software testing, performance, and quality engineering techniques and strategies.
4+ years experience in cloud technologies such as Azure or GCP.
3+ years experience in HTML, CSS, and frontend/web development.
Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
Excellent technical debugging and production support skills.
Experience and/or interest in building tooling that makes your engineering colleagues successful.
Experience and/or interest in architecture, developer tooling, and agile and lean software development.
Adept in event driven architecture patterns.
Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A strategic mindset to align technical initiatives with business goals is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
