Radar Sustainment Engineer
in Huntsville, AL. In this role you must have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and be capable of interfacing verbally and in writing with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Prime Contractor.Job Description:Provide assessment and implementation of sustainment plans and procedures for terminal and forward based mode AN/TPY-2 radars.Provide input into weekly Cross Product Team (CPT), Integrated Product Team (IPT), and Health and Status meetings with Raytheon (prime contractor), Army Capability Manager and MDA THAAD project office in order to solve pressing engineering issues.Analyze proposed AN/TPY-2 maintenance actions and provide recommendations to leadership for changes to proposed maintenance plans.Review Quarterly Maintenance Period (QMP) plans and provide recommendations for approval to leadership.Verify and validate change actions against requirements including specifications, unique performance measures and Missile Defense Agency Mission Assurance Provision requirements.Travel to radar sites to support and assist in implementing QMP actions.Analyze and solve issues, which arose during QMP actions as the official MDA representative on-site.Travel to radar sites to support development and sell-off of new radar hardware.Provide analysis and recommendations to leadership to assist in determining acceptability of new radar hardware prior to acquisition by the government.Support the 24/7 Engineer On-Call rotation. Provide immediate engineering assistance during radar downing events. Oversee hardware and software verification and validation testing.Provide technical support to Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Design Reviews (PDR, CDR, FDR).Travel (40%) to prime contractor facility, test ranges, and weapon site locations.Qualifications:Must have 7+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project.Must have a BS in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.Must have knowledge and application of phased array radar theory, function, and design.Must be able to work independently and/or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems.Must have the capability to develop and clearly present reports and presentations to senior management-level personnel.Must be proficient in Microsoft tools, e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word.Must be a pro-active, self-starter.Desired Qualifications:Working knowledge of major end items, Software and Hardware, of the AN/TPY-2 Radar, preferred.Experience fielding an operational asset, preferred.Ability to read and interpret mechanical hardware drawings, preferred.Experience with quality control, preferred.Works independently, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferred.Experience with Program Management, preferred.Experience implementing systems engineering 'V' processes, preferred.Ability to self-manage and initiate within team structure, preferred.Ability to decompose complex problems to actionable elements, preferred.Ability to work across organizational boundaries, preferred.Working knowledge of MDA Systems Engineering processes and procedures, preferred.Working knowledge of MDA organizational structure, preferred.Working knowledge of Missile Defense System (MDS) architecture and concepts, preferred.Security Requirements:Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance.Travel Requirements:Up to 40%.If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.Physical Requirements:Must be able to work in an office environment.Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another, communicating with others to exchange information, repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.Equal Employment Opportunity:
