We are headquartered in Wauconda, IL, with additional operations in Chicago, IL; Hamilton, OH; Rochester, NY; and Sao Paulo, Brazil.Position SummarySynergy Flavors is seeking a Systems Administrator for our US headquarters in Wauconda, IL, to support both US and Brazil locations as part of our global digital transformation. This role involves managing systems and network infrastructure, participating in infrastructure projects, and offering expert input on topics ranging from PC and AD support to advanced cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, customer-focused, and able to manage third-party suppliers while ensuring systems function within IT’s security and design specifications. You’ll also contribute to global platform design and strategic IT initiatives.ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Management: Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, and network devices, ensuring system stability, security, and performance.Systems & Network Administration: Manage operating systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud environments, applying necessary patches and updates. Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.Helpdesk & Support: Oversee L1.5 escalated helpdesk support, resolving complex technical issues efficiently and improving service levels.Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage backup systems and disaster recovery plans, regularly testing processes for system readiness.Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to security policies, monitor vulnerabilities, and support security measures like firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection.Automation & Documentation: Use scripting to automate tasks and improve system efficiency. Maintain up-to-date documentation and provide mentorship to junior staff.Vendor & Performance Management: Coordinate with vendors for system upgrades and support. Proactively monitor and optimize system performance to avoid bottlenecks or failures.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).7+ years in systems administration, infrastructure support, or related IT roles.Proven experience managing enterprise-level infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and escalated helpdesk support.Technical RequirementsOperating Systems: Windows Server OS, Linux, Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, O365, and Azure administration.Virtualization: VMware (6.x and above), Hyper-V, ESX servers, vCenter management.Networking: LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, VPN, firewalls (e.g., Meraki), Layer 2/3 networking, Layer 7 firewalls, and DMZ configurations.Cloud & Security: Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), SaaS/IaaS, Azure MFA, Conditional Access Policies, Cybersecurity (PAM, firewalls, anti-virus/anti-malware).Backup & Recovery: Veeam, Acronis, Rubrik; disaster recovery planning and implementation.Automation: PowerShell, Bash scripting for automation and system management.ITSM & Support: Familiarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and L1/L1.5 helpdesk processes.Project & Vendor ManagementProject management, including goal setting, risk analysis, and stakeholder communication.Vendor management for procurement, system upgrades, and maintenance, with cost-benefit analysis expertise.Strong process adherence to ensure platform governance and integrity.Soft SkillsStrong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication abilities.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to travel between US and Brazil locations as needed.Desirable CertificationsCCNA/CCNP certification, experience with PAM solutions (e.g., CyberArk), Crowdstrike, Palo Alto Firewalls, Microsoft Licensing.
