NYSERDA seeks a Software Developer to join our highly nimble team of Information Technology professionals dedicated to delivering high quality project deliverables through thorough and thoughtful planning as well as consultation with a wide variety of users. The Software Developer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software implementations supporting multiple internal business teams across NYSERDA. This position requires a solid level of technical skills in the programming languages and technologies that the specific position requires.Primary Responsibilities
Develops information systems by designing, developing, and deploying software solutions.Investigates problem areas and fixes bugs in software.Follows and supports all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC).Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.Develops test scripts and runs tests to verify deliverables meet the documented requirements before sending to QA.Participates in peer review of code developed by fellow developers.Provides help and support for internal and external users.Supports DevOps activities by developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to support automation of all stages of the SDLC.Maintains a high level of service by establishing and enforcing organization standards including secure coding practices, use of source control, and coding standards.Participates in daily standups to review work assignments and report on progress.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; bench-marking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.Understand and adhere to NYSERDA’s policies and procedures.Ability to perform all managerial and supervisory responsibilities with demonstrated experience fostering respect, diversity, equity and inclusion across the workforce.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree with 4 years of experience.Ability to read specifications and execute solutions that meet those specifications.Understanding of modern web service architectures.Understanding of relational databases and data integration tools.Understanding of software version control using Git.Understanding of CI/CD pipeline automation.Excellent communication and analytical skills.Close attention to detail.Experience with programming languages and frameworks such as C#, ASP.NET Core, JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS, SQL, and cloud computing (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or other STEM related major and 3 years of relevant professional experience.Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft Azure and/or .NET development.Experience with automated testing tools.Experience with a ticketing system such as Jira.Experience in a DevOps or Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CICD) environment such as Azure DevOps.Experience with Microsoft Azure development, Azure App Service, Azure Functions.Experience with modern web development technologies such as Typescript, React, Webpack, and Docker containerization.Please submit two files, one for your cover letter and another for a resume.
