The Sustainability Manager implements sustainability programming and initiatives to create cultures of sustainability and advance the university’s sustainability goals and climate action plan. This position is highly collaborative, working closely with colleagues in the division of Campus Services, faculty members, staff, deans, department heads, executive administration, students, and alumni to develop successful programs and improve environmental impacts. This position serves as the primary liaison to students and student organizations for the Office of Sustainability. The Sustainability Manager should stay abreast of current best practices in engagement programming and communications for sustainability in higher education. This work often requires working outside for extended periods and walking across campus several times a day to support engagement programming. This position supports sustainability data collection and analysis for university sustainability reporting tasks, including AASHE STARS and annual greenhouse gas inventory. This position is a full-time on-site staff position housed in the Office of Sustainability. The Office of Sustainability collaborates with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to reduce the university’s environmental impact and promote cultures of sustainability. The office is committed to building a diverse staff and supporting the equity, diversity, and inclusion goals of the university.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Great computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Instagram, etc.).Success developing and leading engagement programming.Success managing several projects at various stages while meeting deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to work well and build relationships.Self-motivated who can take initiative to resolve problems.Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Experience with event and volunteer management.Strong communication and writing skills; strong public speaking and presentation skills.Ability to effectively lead, manage and influence others to promote sustainability at the university.Ability to perform duties at other than normal working hours and days as required by projects or tasks.Ability to utilize software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, MailChimp, and to learn new software programs.Required to pass a background check.Required Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of related experience.ORHigh School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 9 years of related experience.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.Experience working in a university or educational setting with adults, young adults, and teens.Experience with data-driven analysis to improve engagement and/or environmental impacts.Compensation Information:

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 26.
