YOUR ROLE
This lab based position is focused on meeting the technical needs of our APP market with a focus on delivering value to our customers within the Flexible Packaging business, primarily focusing on coatings for films, in conjunction with our business development team.
Works closely with our Business Development, Product Development, Marketing, Sales and Key Account Management to meet the technical needs for markets within our APP packaging industry.
Leads various high level innovation development projects in partnership with the business development team and product development focused on sustainability, profitability, and innovation. Critical in understanding customer needs and shaping the innovation pipeline as well as introducing new products, technology, and tools to the field/market.
Leads on-site product / technology laminator and coater demonstrations and troubleshooting.
This role will work closely with the Coatings Business Development teams to evaluate new coatings technologies both internal and external to Henkel.
Manage business development project milestones and driving progress to deliver new products/market opportunities.
Drives innovation and success of new technology platforms for coatings using knowledge and expertise of industry, applications, and customers.
Prepares reports to summarize findings & conclusions and effectively communicates technical information directly to internal and external stakeholders.
Understands lab procedures presented in technical journals, can adapt and modify procedures to meet project requirements.
Effectively communicate technical information directly to business development, internal, & external customers.
Interprets laboratory results and recommends next experimental steps or products.
Sets up and operates standard lab equipment of moderate complexity.
Serves as a resource for coating product / technology demos, troubleshooting, and training at customer sites and supports visits with pre- and post-demo documentation and visit reports.
Demonstrates appropriate project management skills by justifying and scoping customer projects, as well as supporting our market areas by driving our innovation and technology pipeline.
YOUR SKILLS
Bachelor’s in chemical engineering, Chemistry or similar degree is required, or will consider candidates with significant experience in coatings used in Flexible packaging in lieu of degree.
5+ years of coatings, or flexible packaging industry experience is strongly preferred.
Hands-on coating and/or converting expertise (mechanical / application equipment aptitude) in coatings technology area is required.
Ability to multi-task with strong analytical and mechanical skills.
Demonstration of project management skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent people skills; able to work effectively with a range of individuals from manufacturing operators and laboratory technicians through senior management both at customers and within Henkel.
Travel in North America, approximately 20%.
The salary for this role is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range may also be modified in the future.
