Northrop Grumman is seeking a
Quality Manager 2
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals and lead a front-line inspection department that supports production and sustainment operations at the Life Cycle Sustainment Operations (LCSO), Mission Systems sector in
Elkridge, Maryland at our Troy Hill facility . This position will report into the Quality & Mission Excellence functional organization and will support all programs and contracts.
The Quality Manager supervises non-represented employees who inspect product to determine compliance with Northrop Grumman and customer requirements. The Quality Manager will monitor all work operations of their direct reports on a daily basis and actively assist or provide direction as required. The Quality manager’s team covers the full manufacturing value stream from receiving inspection through Manufacturing & Test to Shipping inspection.
Roles and Responsibilities for Quality Manager:
Monitor and track SAP and GOLD deliveries and rejection metrics for the site, and implement critical process improvement to ensure the highest quality product is delivered to the customers.
Communicate risks and opportunities to management and programs on products that undergo inspection in Final Assembly.
Provide Manager oversight for a non-represented inspection group, input for mid-year and end of year performance, provide hiring and training of new inspectors, and provide conflict resolution.
Attend management product status weekly meetings, relay priorities and direction to inspection team.
Meet and work with Customers on a daily basis for quality-related tasks relating to Final Assembly.
Meet and work with DCMA on a weekly basis for the selloff of product.
Manage overtime for the group and provide weekend support when needed, and review and approve time charging for inspectors.
Provide headcount and hiring forecasts.
Responsible for the control and disposition of production and customer scrap.
Conduct audits and support third party audits of the facility.
Ensure that correct and effective metrics are utilized to improve product compliance.
Identify innovative ways to improve the efficiency of inspection and reduce the inspection time.
Identify quality problems, issues, and defects through root cause investigation and corrective action implementations.
Support assigned programs by identifying quality requirements as defined by the contract.
Enforce quality and operational requirements as defined by our in-house processes and NGMS quality manuals to program management, engineering, and manufacturing.
Enforce in-house Quality and Operational requirements for compliance to ISO-9001.2015, AS9100 Rev D, and In-house Operational Manuals.
Actively pursue corrective action to ensure compliance to our contracts, processes, and procedures.
Develop and maintain activities/metrics to support the Quality Assurance activities in pursuit of Quality tasks.
Provide guidance to peers and management in the pursuit of quality excellence.
Develop and maintain customer satisfaction.
Ensure compliance of our deliveries to our customers both for schedule and quality.
Coordinate FAIs for sell-off and in-process inspection when needed.
Use and identify various measuring and inspection equipment that will increase efficiency and provide accurate defect recognition.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 7 years of relevant experience; or a High School diploma and 13 years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Office tools expertise.
Demonstrated leadership characteristics in a team environment.
Previous experience working in quality, supply chain, program management, engineering, business, or manufacturing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. (US citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications:
Ten years’ experience in a leadership role in the Aerospace or Electronics Industry.
Five years working in quality, supply chain, program management, engineering, business, or manufacturing.
Active DOD Secret Clearance.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
Knowledgeable of Earned Value Management.
Familiarity with SAP and GOLD.
Salary Range:
$119,800 - $179,600
