We are skilled in managing both routine day-to-day operations and maintenance as well as more complicated, enterprise-level projects.We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Network Engineer to join our team in supporting one of our large government clients. This role will require hands-on experience in managing and optimizing complex LAN/WAN environments, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, and demonstrate the ability to diagnose complex network issues in multi-campus environments. Experience with Fortinet products and CCNA certification are preferred. This is an onsite position that requires adaptability to new technologies in a dynamic and secure government environment.Key Responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.Configure and manage network security devices, with a focus on Fortinet firewalls and related technologies.Diagnose and troubleshoot complex network issues, including connectivity, performance, and security problems across large, multi-campus networks.Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to ensure optimal uptime and performance.Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deploy new technologies, enhance network infrastructure, and meet evolving business needs.Perform routine network maintenance and upgrades, including firmware updates, patch management, and network optimizations.Ensure network security by implementing and enforcing security policies and maintaining firewalls.Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, updates, and changes according to industry best practices.Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal and client teams.Stay up to date with emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements and upgrades to the existing network.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).3-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a strong background in LAN/WAN design and implementation.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex network issues, with hands-on experience in large, multi-campus networks being a plus.Familiarity with network protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and IPsec.Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless technologies (Fortinet experience preferred).Preferred certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.Strong understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and routing technologies.Proven experience working with network security devices and protocols in secure environments, ideally within government or highly regulated sectors.Ability to adapt to new technologies and troubleshoot in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.Must be willing to travel up to 25%.Preferred Skills:Experience with Fortinet firewalls and FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer.Experience with network monitoring tools and security management platforms.Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.) is a plus.Experience working with large, multi-campus network environments is a plus.
