Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Network – Network Engineer SME (24-293) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.
The candidate will serve as a Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this role. The candidate will be at the forefront of network design, helping solve complex technical problems, leading team members in technical execution, and helping train engineers with less experience. The candidate will work within an agile team and plan work based on customer requirements and program contractual agreements. Responsible for helping junior engineers with tasks if needed. Perform work without appreciable direction.
Essential Functions:
Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network to operational sites.
Responsible for traveling to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently perform troubleshooting, and provide status updates to Program personnel.
Create, maintain, and present KPIs and other metrics related to the Network Enterprise.
Basic Qualifications:
An active Secret clearance is required to start.
9 years with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field; 7 years' experience with a master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field; or 13 years experience in lieu of a degree.
Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
Must have effective presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently on large field projects.
Must have Network Design & Development experience.
Must know how to design, implement, and manage Network Management and Monitoring Systems.
Must have extensive experience with networking protocols.
Must have proven troubleshooting expertise.
Must have experience planning and supporting the deployment of network infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.
Experience loading and modifying MIBS and SEED files, writing scripts for network automation, and developing fix-lets to be used with IBM BigFix to efficiently deploy updates to the fielded environment.
JNCP or CCNP Certification.
Prior C2BMC experience.
