On any given day you'll:

Design of traffic signal and coordinated signal systems.

Traffic modeling, intersection capacity analysis and intersection design studies.

Preparation of traffic studies, safety studies and other traffic related studies.

Serve as Project Engineer for selected projects.

Prepare and perform signal coordination and timing studies.

Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related steps or processes.

Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or government regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.

Working knowledge of modern principles and practices of Traffic Engineering.

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or have the ability to obtain the PE license within 6 months of hire.

Must have hands-on experience with common Traffic Engineering software including; Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/Sim Traffic, and MicroStation.

Strong technical writing and communication skills.

May require light work involving standing or walking in the field on occasion.

Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit, walk, reach, crouch, bend, and walk or stand on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs.

Constant hand, finger, and arm use.
