Purpose:
Manage Supplier Subcontracts through specification, requisitioning, and fabrication to ensure compliance with contract specifications and timely delivery of equipment.
Provide technical customer support from project initiation to equipment delivery.
Support the Field Project Engineer during equipment delivery.
Maintain customer relationships through quality support while minimizing costs and risks.
Essential Responsibilities:
Review project-specific contracts and specifications to guide the team on non-standard requirements.
Requisition "free issued" materials and develop technical specifications for subcontracted fabrication purchase orders.
Assist in developing new suppliers and manage supplier relationships to meet quality and cost goals.
Evaluate fabrication supplier proposals technically.
Manage information flow between N/E and suppliers to ensure timely material and fabrication supply.
Review N/E drawings, supplier fabrication drawings, and schedules to ensure project requirements are met.
Act as the main technical contact for the customer and interface with internal departments and suppliers to resolve issues.
Coordinate initial Lessons Learned Meeting post-engineering completion to provide feedback for project execution improvements.
Assist the Field Project Engineer during field erection activities.
Act as backup to the Project Manager in their absence.
Qualifications:
To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Knowledge:
Good understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to read/analyze technical engineering drawings.
Basic understanding of costing and budgeting of projects.
Good understanding of project risks (cost and schedule).
Required Skills or Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel); advanced Excel skills are a plus.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task while maintaining task priorities.
Formal Education:
Four-year college education, B.S. in Engineering.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience preferred.
Travel approximately 10-20% by plane or car, including international travel as necessary. Ability to read, write, problem-solve, make quick decisions, interpret data, and analyze results; effective communication is essential.
