The Sr. Manager Infrastructure role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Infrastructure systems and team in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual will provide management direction and support for the daily operational activities of the Infrastructure team. This person will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with long-term strategy and supportability. This role needs to have a holistic view of the infrastructure encompassing not just the network, but how the component parts work together to provide services to business applications and end users.
This position is part of the IT Team reporting to the Sr. Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations.
Essential Functions:
Manage IT Infrastructure staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
Responsible for networking, server, monitoring and management, database, cloud services, wireless and endpoint configuration, design and management.
Ability to analyze requirements for new applications, services or infrastructure components, build and implement a design addressing reliability, security, performance and infrastructure best practices.
Strong experience with routing and switching concepts including spanning tree, VLAN concepts and uses, interior and exterior routing protocols. Experience with SD-Wan deployment, concepts and capabilities.
Understanding of inter-system protocols (e.g. SQL Connections, RPC, Web Services) and able to quickly troubleshoot and isolate the affected components.
Exhibit good project management skills and demonstrate the ability to muster resources and technologies; communication, scheduling and implementation to manage large and small scale projects.
Manage priorities and minimize downtime, including performing routine maintenance and upgrades off hours, including OS patching, hardware/firmware updates and automated configuration changes.
Manage support calls and scheduled maintenance with various vendors’ support organizations, including record keeping of service contracts.
Train and mentor others in technology and network operations and management procedures and act as an escalation point for complex issues.
Manage physical infrastructure components such as power and cooling.
Prioritize and serialize projects and infrastructure upgrades to support future endeavors, enhance security and prevent project delays.
Ensure supportability of infrastructure components through spares, maintenance agreements and cross training within the infrastructure team
Ensure designs provide contingencies for Disaster Recovery and High Availability.
Advanced troubleshooting of complex issues
Other projects as required by management.
Desirable skills:
Versed with Windows technologies, including Active Directory, DFS, Certificate Services, ADFS and Group Policies.
Versed in VMWare technologies including vCenter, vShpere.
Experience with next generation firewall concepts and architectures, IPS as well as remote access methods.
Experience with cybersecurity best practices and technologies, managing a multi-layered security approach in a complex environment as well as partnering with 3rd party security providers.
Understanding of network load balancing and content routing.
Understanding of capacity planning techniques.
F5 experience a plus.
Working Conditions
Long and irregular hours.
Office, data center, agricultural and manufacturing environments.

Frequent deadline pressure.
Numerous projects in progress at any given time.
Qualifications
Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills with focus on the best need for the business and cost containment.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT environment including project and change management.
Ability to work well and communicate, especially under pressure
Bachelors degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent work experience
10+ years experience managing a multi-vendor infrastructure.
Cisco or equivalent certifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem solving skills with client focus and methodical approach to troubleshooting.
Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record.
Salary Range:
$128,900.00 - $239,400.00
The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location.
