Transportation Design Project Engineer
in our Newtown, PA office.We are seeking a performance driven individual to serve as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter related to his/her field of expertise. This individual will plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.PCS is an equal opportunity employer.Responsibilities:
Serve as the bridge lead in preparing bridge designs, load ratings, construction plans, specifications and estimates required for project submissions (e.g., Type, Size and Location Submissions, Final Plans Submissions, and the Final Plans, Specifications and Estimate package).Perform and oversee structural analysis and design of Bridges, Culverts, and Retaining Walls on various bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects and highway improvement projects from inception to completion, coordinating with other transportation engineering disciplines such as traffic, highway, geotechnical, civil and environmental.Assist with bridge inspection tasks associated with transportation improvement projects, bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects, NBIS bridge safety inspections, locally administered transportation projects, highway, and bridges projects for a variety of clients, including PennDOT, PTC, DRPA, DRJTBC, NJDOT, NJTA, local municipalities and agencies in the Mid-Atlantic Region.Qualifications:
Software Skills: PennDOT bridge design, analysis and rating software, STAAD, LUSAS, Microsoft Office, Bentley MicroStation; AASHTOWare, BRASS, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge DesignerBluebeam PDF editor experience a plusA strong working knowledge of structural analysis software, design manuals and standards for single and multi-span steel, prestressed concrete, concrete and timber superstructures, and concrete substructures with shallow and deep foundations.Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and LFD design criteria.Knowledge of PennDOT design policies, standards and specifications.Professional Engineer licensed in Pennsylvania required.Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an ABET accredited curriculum.At least 7 years of professional experience working in Civil Engineering (preferably with Transportation / Bridge Design projects).Experience working on transportation, roadway projects, or similar.Experience in analysis and all design phases of bridge repair, rehabilitation and construction.NBIS bridge inspection certification and bridge inspection experience a plus.Demonstrated experience in finite element analysis using CSI Bridge, LUSAS, STAAD, SAP2000 or similar modeling software is a plus.MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience.
