VES, LLC is currently seeking a
Prototype Software Engineer
in Tampa, FL. For this position, we'll be asking you to work with emerging technologies and apply them to solve our forward operators' most advanced challenges. You'll be working on a small team of exceptionally smart people to design and build cutting-edge solutions, pushing the envelope of what is possible for our forward deployed forces.
General Job Duties
Work with leadership to develop software requirements for future solutionsWork with team members to implement and evaluate prototype ideas. Sample prototypes may include, but are not limited to:Facial Recognition at the EdgeLanguage Translation at the EdgeDesigning architecture for future "Fog layer" environmentsLeveraging available cloud platformsApplication of machine learning to communications needsHigh bandwidth, fault tolerant meshing networksLow level networking methodologies to allow recovery from common issues experienced at the EdgeSupport creation of Docker containers for portability, to include migrating between Windows and LinuxSupport setup and deployment of development operating systems. E.g.Deployment of Linux along with proper packages / dependencies for support of GPU enabled (CUDA) Docker containersDeployment of Windows Subsystem for Linux to support common Docker environmentsDeployment of appropriate Raspberry pi / Jetson images for developmentSoftware development needs to integrate disparate hardware components to achieve a common solutionGenerally support the communications, computing, data/sensors, and human-machine interfaces in all software development / integration aspectsSkills We Are Looking For
Must have hands-on experience coding / scripting with numerous of the following:Bash/shPython / PerlC / C++ / JavaExperience with advanced Unix programming conceptsExperience with distributed applications development (Client-Server, TCP/IP) techniquesExperience using containerization (Kubernetes, Linux Docker, Windows Docker, LXC, LXD etc)Experience working within virtualized environmentsFamiliar with Tensorflow / PlaidML / PyTorch / other ML platformsFamiliar with Cloud ML services (AWS, Azure, etc)Familiar with version control systems, preferably GitAbility to identify and analyze available OSS for a particular problemExperience architecting software solutions, both from scratch, and by integrating disparate existing solutions to solve a problemExcellent oral and written communication skills with respect to all the above requirementsDesired Requirements
Demonstrated leadership abilityAble to work with minimal oversight and guidanceAbility to interact with customers and distill requirements from a problem setAbility to take strategic guidance and execute in a self-motivated mannerPassionate about learning new technologies, tools, and platformsRequired Education And Experience
