About us:

Alamo NEX Construction, LLC is a part of the Ferrovial Group in Texas. In 2021, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) selected Alamo NEX Construction, LLC, a joint venture between Ferrovial Construction Texas, LLC and DBW, LLC (both Ferrovial Group subsidiaries), to complete the Interstate 35 (I-35) NEX Central Project. This project is a $1.5 billion Texas Design-Build (DB) project through the cities of San Antonio, Live Oak, Selma, and Schertz that will consist of non-tolled improvements along I-35, I-140, and Loop 1604. The proposed improvements will include the addition of elevated managed lanes to I-35, addition of 4 connector bridges at the I-35/I-410 North interchange, addition of 4 connector bridges at the I-35/Loop 1604 interchange, and widening of Loop 1604 in Bexar and Guadalupe Counties.Job Description:

Typically Monday through Friday and additional days as neededPosition Summary:The Project Engineer is responsible for taking ownership of the structures segment P&L and ensuring the success of heavy civil construction project segments from initial budget through project closeout. Among many important activities, it is most important that projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining positive communication with the Owner's representative. The position of a Project Engineer involves consistently thinking about ways to accelerate jobs, decrease costs, increase markups, save indirect costs, and take advantage of situations to increase profits for multiple projects.Job Duties:Ensure a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project from all levels of management and operationsIdentify value engineering opportunities that provide cost and/or schedule savingsSupervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnelDevelop and maintain a working relationship with the owner or the owner's representativeRead, understand, and plan according to the work specifications and contract responsibilitiesAnticipate project segment conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issuesUnderstand and plan work according to project segment plans, change orders, shop drawings, subcontracts, purchase orders, and monthly pay estimatesSelect and oversee subcontractors and suppliersCreate, update, review, and maintain budget for structure segmentGenerate solutions to stay on time and on budgetMonitor the cost of equipment on the project segment and implement strategies to stay within budgetSchedule the project segment in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines in P6 CPMProvide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skillOversee daily field activities leading to optimal progression of project segment with superintendentsPresent information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general publicEnsure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needsOther unlisted duties will be assignedProvide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamworkCommunicate effectively; both written and verbalProvide training and serve as a mentor to less experienced personnelAny other reasonable request deemed necessary by managementJob Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or other related degreeMinimum of 3-7 years of experience in heavy civil/roadway constructionMust possess superior construction knowledge, excellent personnel management skills, scheduling expertise, and good knowledge and use of cost control proceduresWilling to travelModerate to high level of proficiency operating Primavera 6 CPM scheduling softwareModerate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS PowerPointValid driver license for frequent travelAbility to communicate in English via verbal and written communicationsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryFull understanding of construction math conceptsModerate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature with some exposure to outdoor conditionsManual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingersAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
