Overview

We are seeking a full-time

Senior IT Network Engineer

in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and planning management and administration of technology as well as ensuring technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems. You will gain experience in new technologies while working on network edge and CDN solutions.

Essential FunctionsDesigns and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin's network and telecommunications systemsPerforms and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons from small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operationsMeasures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendationsProvides 24x7 on-call supportContinuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network & telecommunications systems and other network & telecommunications technologiesCommunicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes in a cross-functional setting with business partners as well as non-technical associatesAdheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictatedUnderstands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systemsEnsures that all security requirements are met or exceeded and plans and performs major version upgradesProvides technical input to solution development plans and concept documents and documents technical designs and procedures for team libraryDemonstrates understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutionsShares knowledge and actively mentors less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1 & 2)Designs and implements effective monitoring of enterprise systemsTunes systems using experience and deep knowledge of areaForesees risks and communicates and mitigates those before problems arisePlans and manages technical projects involving other teamsSupports the evolution of Network Edge, Edge Compute and CDN solutionsRecognizes and understands technology impacts within the business and contributes to technical research on new technologies, processes, or proceduresBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field

AND

a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectivelyDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organizationDesired QualificationsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)Experience with Apache Traffic ServerExperience with Citrix NetScaler, HA ProxyExperience with CDN, Edge Networking, Edge Compute, Akamai or CloudFlare technologies.Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
