Overview

We are seeking a full-time IT Network and Telecommunications Engineer 1 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing basic administrative tasks, including managing basic system and performance management and performing on-call duties as needed, responding to alerts and taking appropriate corrective actions.

Essential FunctionsIdentifies/resolves problems of basic scope using proper tools and techniquesApplies basic standards/procedures to accomplish tasks including learning how to use and apply applicable technologiesThoroughly documents work in an organized mannerCommunicates in written/verbal form effectively in a small team settingUnderstands Garmin's Mission Statement and Quality PolicyPerforms basic administrative tasks by following defined proceduresManages change effectively through documented change proceduresCovers on-call duties and procedures and analyzes existing systems for improvementsManages basic system performance management and performs basic patchingCreates work instructions and knowledge articlesMay design or develop basic integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin's network/telecommunications systemsMay perform or evaluate basic costs analyses and vendor comparisons for small projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations and measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendationsProvides 24x7 on-call support as neededContinuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network & telecommunications systems and other network & telecommunications technologiesCommunicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changesAdheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictatedUnderstands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systemsEnsures that all security requirements are met or exceededEnsures security access is appropriate and necessary approvals have been obtainedUnderstands and enforces basic system controlsPerforms internal audits and works with outside auditors to maintain regulatory complianceWorks with users to analyze/configure/tailor security and access levels to the related applicationsAdheres to SOX policies and proceduresBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a technology related field

OR

equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Demonstrated ability to learn basic technical concepts independentlyDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team settingMust be detail-oriented, have the ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision, able to prioritize and multi-task independently in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environmentDesired QualificationsPrevious experience working in a team environmentPrevious experience in networkingUnderstanding of OSI model, DNS and certificatesGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
