Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Survivability & Liaison Architect
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in
Palmdale, CA.
The B-2 PDM Test Engineering Organization within Depot & Modification Center (D&MC) is seeking a Survivability & Liaison Architect who will provide a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the fields of survivability with general knowledge of other related disciplines. The selected candidate will be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems and draw upon relevant and applicable domain knowledge to independently develop solutions.
The primary job responsibilities supporting D&MC include:
Demonstrate knowledge to and instruct fellow engineers, quality inspectors and technicians on the methodology and procedures to verify aircraft, component RF signature, or electrical material properties
Integration of various designs, seam types, and suites of materials and testing of technology applications of new and existing aircraft
Supporting the detail, production and supportability characteristics of the aircraft while also providing detailed knowledge of Structural design, Subsystem design, Production constraints and capabilities as well as specific problems and experiences
The selected candidate will work under the general direction of the Section Manager as part of an Engineering Team, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions. The primary day-to-day responsibility will be to ensure peers and the supported manufacturing team understand the survivability impacts of their statements of work and continuously work to find ways to remove negative impacts while becoming more efficient in delivering the best and safest product to our customer.
This requisition may be filled at a Principal or Sr Principal level based on qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM)
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a BS Degree, 3 years engineering experience with a MS degree in STEM Field, or 0 years with a PhD in STEM Field
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM)
A minimum of 9 years of engineering experience with a BS Degree, 7 years engineering experience with a MS degree in STEM Field, or 4 years with a PhD in STEM Field
Basic Qualifications for both Principal and Sr Principal:
Experience using Tier 1, 2 and 3 signature prediction test tools, models and software
Must have an active DoD Top Secret Clearance
Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in survivability testing and analysis, verification and validation, system integration, or survivability materials development and qualification
Previous experience mentoring engineers in the design, development, verification or validation of RCS materials, components and/or systems
Experience in signature integration, RF survivability design, analysis, and testing
Computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills with CATIA or NX
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Active Special Program Access (SAP)
Previous experience working in the SAP environment
Existing program access to one or more of the Applied Research and Advanced Design program areas
Salary Range:
$107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2:
$133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
