Essential Functions:

The Data Support Specialist ensures through various methods of collection, analysis, and reporting to support the institution's planning, assessment, and informed decision-making efforts. This role is also responsible for the timely coordination and facilitation of accurate governmental and industry-related reports, analysis, and data matrices.This position will engage with all stakeholders at the institution requiring strong social and interpersonal skills to collaborate and work effectively with a large team of faculty, staff, and students.Responsible for leading audits and observation of work to evaluate program compliance with policies and procedures and adherence to grant requirements. Will ensure development and compliance of standard operating procedures and handling of personal identifiable identification. Will also be responsible for ensuring professional development is completed by all staff. Gather and document reporting requirements and design, develop, implement, and support mission-critical reports and dashboards. Creates and develops documentation, timelines, and project deliverables by consulting with users, participating in analysis of user requests, evaluating reports and program standards or guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists the Institutional Reporter and Office of Institutional Effectiveness with day-to-day functions.Serves as a data analyst and coordinates appropriate documentation for the timely submission of accurate federal, state and industry-related reports and surveys, working with individual departments when appropriate.Collaborates with departments across the institution to ensure appropriate compliance in data usage, analysis, and reporting with projects such as academic assessment, student services initiatives, grant reporting, Achieving the Dream, Texas Pathways, and CLNA reporting.Coordinates the development and maintenance of a comprehensive professional development structure for the institution.Works closely with the department of Systems and Analytics and Institutional Effectiveness to maintain data dashboards of strategic indicators and other institutional reports to provide the necessary information for institutional planning, continuous improvement, assessment and data-informed decisions to all constituencies.Provide data visualization and ad hoc reports to be shared with the College's internal community including the Board of Trustees, Cabinet, Business Office and other departments through various reports, data visualization, and advanced reporting analytics to support institutional/departmental planning, decision-making, and policy formation.Analyze data, including its meaning and quality; perform periodic audits of existing data within the College's information systems.Support the institutional and department accreditation requirements of the College.Ensures data integrity by collaborating with end users and performing consistent audit reports while testing systems updates by analyzing outputs to ensure all modules and all environments conform to end user needs.Trains, assists, and supports functional areas in creation of standard and for the generation of ad hoc reports, and provides support, as needed, to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboard for faculty and staff.Participates in data governance, as well as the development, maintenance, and enforcement of policies related to data management and use.Maintain awareness of available data science resources and high-impact practices, such as those available through internal and external partnerships, trainings, and grants.Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively within the college environment are requiredSupports the IT Services department with various projects, upgrades, implementations, and efficiency improvements of technology and data systems as appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel is required to all CBC sites, state conferences and as needed.

Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science, education, higher education or a related discipline preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree.Strong analysis, design, communication skills and documentation skills (including ability to present ideas in user friendly, business-friendly, and technical language) and interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.Highly self-motivated, detail oriented, and directed with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.Ability to apply resources such as analytics software, communication management software, technical documentation, training, vendor support and peer support in the performance of job duties and assignments.Ability to read, understand, and follow high-level policies and guidelines and apply those guidelines to daily responsibilities.Prior experience in the development and delivery of training materials.Three (3) years' experience in quality improvement, auditing functions, or compliance assurance.

Details Equals Master's degree in data science or statistics, education, higher education with a focus in quantitative or qualitative data analysis, with knowledge of higher education standards, guidelines, state, federal law.Five (5) years in auditing or compliance regulation.Experience in higher education or related fields with working knowledge of Teaching and Learning Development, Curriculum Development, and/or Programmatic Review; curricular and non-curricular.Prior experience as a data analyst or similar position with knowledge in Banner ERP Information Systems or similar.Proficiency with one or more statistical software platforms such as R, SPSS, SAS or STATA.Experience as a consultant or other one-on-one support role.
