Job Summary
This is a basic level position that can spray primer, wipe stains, validate paint inventories and fill out order sheets as well as all the skills required in lower level paint positions including masking, scuffing, puttying, spackling, and cleaning of parts. Spray with air-assisted airless, HVLP, pressure pots, and cup guns.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Set up prior to spray and clean up equipment used at the completionWear a fitted respirator while spraying must pass the respirator fit test priorParticipate in ongoing development/improvement of paint department policies, procedures, and techniquesAccountable for standard paint department policies and proceduresExhibit safety consciousness and ensure all work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly mannerClean and maintain spray guns dailyKnowledge of sanding and prep workDisassemble items to prepare them for finishing using hand toolsSmooth and touch-up surfaces to prepare them for finishing, using a variety of wood fillers, sanders, and sandpaperSand surfaces after primer/sealer coat, using sanders and sanding pads. Mask off fixtures as needed, using masking tape and paperDown-stack finished partsContinually work toward improving quality, productivity, and safetyCooperate with other departments to ensure overall successOther duties as assigned by the supervisor; may include laminating or paintingPerform sanding and prep work as required by the work scheduleAs needed, clean and maintain equipment and tools in proper working orderBe able to follow directions wellEnsure that the work done is of good qualityOrganized work stationHave good attitudeUnderstand job standards and processesDisplay willingness to learnContinuous improvementQualifications
Must have 1 year of commercial or industrial paint prep with at least 9 months of previous spray experience preferredAbility to pass internal training program within proscribed time periods for each areaAbility to wear a respiratorFamiliar and capable of reading MSDS sheets
