The team you will be a part of

The Operations/Production team plans, directs and monitors all production activities within an assigned area or unit to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet established production specifications, schedules and quality standards. Liaise with functional or operational area managers to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.

This role in summary

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership to our materials group within our manufacturing plant to successfully deliver parts lineside. This includes managing material supervisors, as well as the hourly material handling associates in our daily mission to achieve great safety, quality, delivery and cost in all areas of our operation. The Internal Materials team is accountable for ensuring material is received, put-away, picked and delivered line side to the assembly line in line with our lean principles. They are also responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy throughout those processes and the outbound picking, packaging and shipping of service parts to our consumers and service part operation.

Your responsibilities will include

Accountable to enforce and manage relationships with internal parties to ensure efficient flow of parts into the operation; Prioritizes and organizes short term and long term goals and activities in accordance with business objectives; Report to material leadership on production status and identify countermeasures; Coaching material supervisors and hourly associates through a daily presence on the floor; Maintain successful safety, quality, delivery, cost in all materials flows and processes; Work with manufacturing leadership and cross functional teams to optimize total cost and to maintain inventory targets that support our ability to deliver the promise to our customers; Ensure strict adherence to all Whirlpool manufacturing standards/methods. Live the Whirlpool Leadership Model and drive it within your team. Act as co-pillar lead in LCS WCM; Lead expansion activities through WCM Roadmap; Use lean tools to drive continuous improvement on material management and material flow; Identify material handling costs opportunities through the Logistics Cost Deployment initiative; Lead the projects pipeline for P4G Savings for in-perimeter costs; Identify and lead continuous improvement efforts through involvement in the strategic materials management planning process and the execution of activities defined in that process.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's degree required (preferably Production Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering) Knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain concepts and parts flow. 5 to 7 years leadership experience in a supply chain focused or manufacturing environment preferred. Strong understanding of Materials Management is mandatory Profound understanding of the Lean manufacturing methodology and application Proven track record in driving results in materials management A broad understanding of SAP, MM and WMS

Preferred skills and experiences

Prior experience managing supplier and/or cross functional relationships; Lean Six Sigma certifications will be considered a differential. Strong understanding of lean concepts along with a proven track record of driving continuous improvement via lean tools. Proven ability to grow individual and organization competency through proactive coaching and mentoring.
