(paid in installments over the first 15 months)Paid medical, dental and vision coveragePaid holidaysPaid vacation and sick time,Retirement plan availableDuties and ResponsibilitiesCheck vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in clean and good working orderCollect delivery instructions from appropriate sources and verify instructions and routesDrive assigned vehicle on designated routeFollow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goodsReport vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehiclesMaintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, or repair status following state and federal regulationsRecord information such as weight/volume, mileage, time and fuel consumptionOperate equipment such as GPS navigation and radio/phone to exchange information with supervisors or other points of contactPlan/adjust routes based on changing conditions using navigation equipment to maximize fuel efficiencyLoad or unload trucks using specialized equipment as necessaryInteract with others in a professional and ethical mannerFollow department and company proceduresKeep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this companyOther duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time are business needs evolve over time.RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel RequirementsValid Class A or B CDL and current DOT medical cardMust be 21 or older to comply with Federal regulationsEndorsements (tanker and doubles) based on vehicle assigned2 years commercial vehicle driving experience with an acceptable MVRAbility to complete Entry Level Driver program if less than 2 years commercial vehicle driving experience with an acceptable MVR.High school diploma or equivalent preferredAbility to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier DepartmentUnderstand and follow all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulationsKnowledge of transportation and safety principles for moving goods by roadSkill to operate, control and monitor vehicle and equipmentAbility to work overtime and alternate schedule/route as neededLocal travel; less than 5% overnight travelPhysical Demands/RequirementsConstantly (over 2/3):remains in a seated position while using arms, legs and observation to operate vehicleobserves and monitors equipmentascends/descends in and out vehicle and on equipmentFrequently (1/3-2/3):communicates with co-workers, customers and supervisorsmoves, lifts, pushes and pulls equipment and material up to 60 lbs.walks, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches and handles equipment to collect materialoperates electronic devices such as GPS equipment and phone/radioOccasionally (under 1/3):exposed to outdoor weather conditionsexposed to materials that occasionally require use of PPE such as gloves (protect from heat)moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaceselectronically and manually completes logs/reportsAbout Baker Commodities, Inc.Baker Commodities Inc. has been in business for over 80 years.
