Description
The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.The Supply Chain Operations Division consists of Materials Contract Administration and Storehouse Operations. The purpose of the department is to serve various customers within Metra. Managing the continuous supply of parts materials and services required to support Engineering, Mechanical and Transit Operations. Additionally, the department operates Metra's four storehouses and is responsible for managing Metra's fuel and P-Card programs.Reporting directly to the Section Chief, Storehouses- the Manager, Storehouseis responsible for the planning, ordering, and safeguarding of inventory and materials replenishment for assigned storehouse. Collaborate with user departments, Department of Procurement, materials divisions within General Administration Department, and vendors to ensure that material supply meets user demand. Analyze material turnover data, forecast user need, and establish inventory replenishment levels and delivery schedules in accordance with cost efficient and operationally effective material control practices. Expedite open purchase orders for outstanding materials. Prepare daily, monthly, and yearly inventory audit summary reports. Assign work to staff and monitor productivity, efficiency, and customer service. Prepare purchase requisitions, price lists, special terms and conditions, and bid evaluations for blanket purchase orders. Responsible for the safety objectives, goals, and program of the organization ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations. Incumbents work under both inside and outside environmental conditions under prevailing conditions of heat, cold, rain, and snow.Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration.Requirements
Must possess a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or in lieu of a degree, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years in materials management.In addition to #1, must have a minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience in materials management including experience using computerized inventory, purchase order, and accounts payable systems.Considerable knowledge of materials ordering, inventory control, and store keeping methods.Considerable knowledge of plant and industry safety rules relating to industrial equipment and storehouse operations.Considerable knowledge of inventory auditing and reconciliations processes.Good verbal and written communication skills.Intermediate skill using computerized inventory, purchase order, and accounts payable systems.Intermediate skill using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.Ability to supervise staff.Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.Ability to work collaborate with others and work with vendors.Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, for extended periods of time.Must possess a valid driver's license.Must be willing to travel outside and within Metra's 6-county region.Must be available on-call 24-hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year, including weekends and holidays.Preferences:Previous experience in ERP systems preferred.Metra employees in an active review period under the current discipline policy or who have documented attendance or performance issues will not be considered and/or selected for this position.Please note:
