Medical Staff Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Medical and Professional Staff Services, the Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for the credentialing and re-credentialing of all Medical and Professional staff members in a timely manner and in accordance with all applicable state, federal and other regulatory requirements.

The Medical Staff Coordinator has a responsibility to maintain good communications and a positive environment, to encourage Medical Staff members to utilize Mission Community Hospital as a partner in admitting and treating their patients.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates and prioritizes medical staff activities for designated departments and CommitteesReview, evaluate and coordinate Medical Staff applications and reappointment applications to determine completeness and need for further investigationProcess requests for administrative and temporary privileges obtaining appropriate approvals and distributes notices of temporary privileges grantedMaintain and update the Medical Staff Database (MIDAS) as a result of the Governing Boards actions. This also includes verification of current CA licensure, DEA certificates, professional liability insurance and all other required certifications in accordance with Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.Assure that Department Privilege Delineation forms reflect current practice and regulation requirements.Manage requests for additional privileges, analyzes those requests in terms of required education criteria and obtain appropriate approvals.Provide staff support to the Medical Staff Credentials and Interdisciplinary Practice Committees, which includes preparation of agendas, minutes, follow-up, credentials summaries and reports for the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board.Each month after the Board of Directors meeting, after updating MIDAS with the new applicants, reappointments, resignations, change of status etc, the MSC shall generate updated rosters and post on the intranet one each for AHP, Physicians by Alpha and specialty as well as update and post the surgery proctoring list.MSC is responsible for all aspects of proctoring. This means working closely with the surgery scheduler and Associate Director to ensure that medical staff who need proctoring are booking at proctor at the time of scheduling a case and getting the completed proctoring form to the Medical Staff Office following the case. They are also responsible for monitoring and updating the proctoring list frequently as needed and posting it on the intranet for the surgery scheduler to refer to when scheduling cases. The MSC is also responsible for generating proctoring letters and lists of eligible proctors to send to the physicians who have not yet completed their proctoring every 6 months until completed.MSC is responsible for coordinating the content, design and printing of a quarterly newsletter for medical staff.06/2016

MSC is responsible for generating annual medical staff dues letters in November of each year. Also responsible for track and entering into MIDAS. Will work closely with the Medical Staff Secretary/Treasurer to coordinate deposits into the Medical Staff Account.Will read and have a working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations both general and for each department for Medical Staff and AHP.QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking when problem solving, able to work independently in fast-paced environment, and manage several deadline driven tasks or projects.Demonstrate ability to interact with a variety of healthcare professionals.Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of all Microsoft office programs.

Knowledge of Medical Staff Database (MIDAS) is a plus.Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as superb customer

service skills.Familiarity with TJC Standards and Title 22 Regulations is preferred.3+ years recent Medical Staff Services experience in an acute-care hospital setting is

preferred by not required.Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred but not required.90 day period to obtain Fire Safety certification
