Position Title: VAN DRIVER

Department: DRIVERS/OPERATIONS

Reports to:

ROUTE SUPERVISOR

Position Summary:

Responsible for driving tractor/trailer in accordance with DOT and all company guidelines in order to swap out and pick up loaded trailer at customer locations as scheduled. May assist with loading and unloading freight if required by customer. Must adhere to DOT load balancing and load securement requirements. Driver must comply too all company safety policy, DOT hours of service and safety regulations.Provides basic customer service related to delivery issues and assists in resolving related problems.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

DOT pre-and post-trip inspections to tractor and trailer, not limited to, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges and controlsOperation of company vehicles per DOT and company safety regulationsCommunication with Route Supervisor of route status and Customer Service GroupMonitor gauges, dials, other indicators and ensure all necessary scheduled are performed regularlyFulfill assigned route pick-upsOperate hydraulic controlsEnsure loads adhere to DOT load securement requirementsClean truck and trailer as neededFollows all safety policies and proceduresDemonstrated ability to operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment safely in all weather conditions and working environmentsNotifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damageNotifies Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazardsDemonstrated knowledge of recycling commodity classifications and grades of paper and plasticsDemonstrated knowledge of commingled collection processes and allowable materialsDemonstrated knowledge of proper DOT loading, transportation and shipping procedures for commoditiesPhysical ability to perform the duties of the positionCommercial Driver's license and safe driving recordAbility to lift 75 lbsAbility to work a flexible schedule when necessaryFollow all company policies per Employee Handbook & Code of ConductPerforms other job-related duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities

Hiring Requirements/Preferences• Minimum 21 years of age• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent• Must meet company outlined driver minimum qualification• Possess a valid Class A CDL (Class A with Airbrake endorsement)• Minimum one year CDL driving experience or verifiable 150,000 log miles• Strong Work Ethic

Must meet or exceed the medical standard of DOTMust demonstrate the ability to follow directionsMust be capable of performing all essential job functions including: heavy lifting, bending, and sitting for extended periods of timeAs verified by a current MVR/driver abstract, must meet all qualifications as defined under DOT regulation 49 CFR 383.51• Must be able to complete and maintain driver log• Must have the ability to maintain and or identify equipment maintenance needs• Must be able to function in extreme temperatures and must be available for weekend work schedules• Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical• Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document• Professional attitude & conduct• Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and time management skills are needed• High degree of safety awareness and safety discipline• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times• Willing to travel and work away from home when and if required• Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and the policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook• Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by PRATT Safety and OSHA• You will be expected to be flexible to the needs of our business, as we continually strive to meet and exceed the needs of our customers• Random and Suspicion Drug tests are performed• Please be aware that you must successfully complete a drug screen and background check in order to be hired with Pratt Industries• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
