Description
The Flaum Eye Institute at The University of Rochester has an opening for a full - time Pediatric Optometrist at the Flaum Eye Institute’s Comprehensive Eye Care Services and satellite offices. The scope of practice is to provide comprehensive eyecare to children of any age and at times, developmentally delayed adults, including the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, aphakic and cosmetic contact lens fittings, myopia management, and co-management of cataract/glaucoma/strabismus with our 4 pediatric ophthalmologists and 2 ocular geneticists. Flaum is a very highly specialized Eye Institute. The Optometrist will be working collaboratively with specialists in pediatric retina, glaucoma, cornea, anterior and posterior segment disease, neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus and all other aspects of pediatric ophthalmology and ocular genetics. There are academic opportunities in teaching, research, and outreach. Teaching will include ophthalmology residents, pediatric and ocular genetics fellows, and medical students. The pediatric optometrist may also have a role in our vision outreach and screening program. Pediatric low vision skills are a favorable skill for the applicant although not required. The Optometrist can utilize his/her degree to the fullest in our academic environment.
Qualifications
Completion of a residency is recommended but not required. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York. Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Optometry. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.
