Position Summary

MaineHealth, the premier tertiary care center in Maine, seeks candidates for the position of Leadership Gift Officer. This position is focused on building relationships with potential donors in the community and securing leadership gift commitments in support of MaineHealth's strategic priorities. Current initiatives involve raising significant philanthropic support for MaineHealth's academic mission, including both medical education and biomedical research, patient-centric care approach base in MaineHealth's Southern Region. The person in this role will be expected to be a key contributor to these efforts.

The development operation at MaineHealth is very collaborative and team oriented. We seek individuals to join our team who are entrepreneurial and motivated self-starters with a persistent drive to develop, cultivate and solicit a pool of leadership donors for the MaineHealth system. The Leadership Gift Officer must be a strong fund raiser with excellent communication skills and an established track record of securing outright major gifts. Experience with planned giving and grant writing is also desired. We have developed a clear and open system of accountability for all front-line fund raisers which includes visit targets, proposal development, and funds secured. In addition to visits and proposals, the Leadership Gift Officer is also expected to help build the culture of philanthropy at MaineHealth and work closely with clinical and administrative leadership to achieve our mission and vision for the future of healthcare.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Education:

Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree and/or CFRE or CAP certification preferred.License/Certifications:

At least 5 years of development experience, ideally with a background of raising funds in a healthcare or academic medical center setting. Basic knowledge of planned giving vehicles and grant writing.Excellent written and oral communication and relationship building skills; the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work autonomously under pressure of sequential deadlines.Ability to travel when necessary, both in state and out of state.
