Title: Plumber/Steamfitter State Role Title: 79033 Hiring Range: starting at $32,843 (commensurate based on experience) Pay Band: 3 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Western State Hospital Agency Website: https://dbhds.virginia.gov/facilities/wsh/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Plumber/Steamfitter who will provide plumbing services including trouble shooting, diagnosing, repairs, installation and preventive maintenance on the buildings and grounds at WSH and CCCA; to provide snow removal and emergency services as required; perform on-call, weekend and holiday maintenance coverage as directed by the supervisor; perform preventive maintenance (PM) on buildings and grounds in accordance with the work order control system- TMS; document work on the prescribed forms to include materials and hours expended on work orders; and install new equipment and communicate maintenance requirements to the work order control center - TMS. The Plumber/Steamfitter will also be responsible for the maintenance and repairs on Aqua recycle, water softener system, wastewater plant, laundry machinery -towel folder, washers, dryers, cart washer, scales, string tying machine, and ironer; assist other trades in the repair of utility systems; assist with disaster exercises or special events as directed by the Supervisor; and provide "on-call" coverage when scheduled on rotational basis. supervisor. This position is eligible for: - retirement with cash match - health, vision, and dental insurance - life insurance - paid time off Minimum Qualifications - valid Virginia Driver's license - general plumbing experience - advance knowledge of building Plumbing and utility work - advance knowledge of methods used to troubleshoot Plumbing and utility systems - working knowledge of material requisitions and purchasing procedures - safe working practices including lockout & tag-out, Hospital Policies and procedures and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) protocols - good knowledge of shop equipment operation - skilled in the use of Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, tools and equipment and skilled in using test equipment in the related field - good communication skills and unwavering safety practices - ability to read, write, communicate clearly, give and follow instructions, read and interpret manuals, perform basic math calculations, lift heavy objects, climb stairs and ladders, walk on various surfaces, and work in various weather conditions; and ability to use communication and office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, radios, telephones, etc - ability to make independent decisions on how required tasks should be performed - ability to operate motor vehicles, shop and snow equipment and to perform other duties as assigned Additional Considerations - high school graduate or equivalent - Apprentice VA Tradesman Card - bilingual - veteran Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or rsum is submitted successfully.
