Partner with external auditors to ensure schedules are accurate and delivered timely. Review significant contracts and accounting transactions for appropriate accounting treatment. Perform technical accounting research and draft Corporate Position Memos to document accounting positions. Document controls environment.Responsibilities:1. Prepare and/or review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations. Ensure each JE and Reconciliation is accurate and supportable utilizing independent verification. Must obtain and maintain proficient knowledge of the accounts/entries in question and will be the primary liaison between management on all related questions/issues.2. Analyze balance sheet account fluctuations period over period and identify and support root cause of fluctuations.3. Schedule and facilitate regular meetings with internal business owners that impact the responsible accounting areas, understanding any impending changes or potential issues. Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of these accounting areas and communicate this knowledge during meetings.4. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting systems required to complete the activities for this role. Be a subject matter expert on these systems and related processes including acting as the point person for system changes impacting accounting areas.5. Assist with the preparation of financial statements, which includes related support, flux analyses, and summary schedules for leadership.6. Prepare audit schedules and various analyses and review other similar data prepared by the finance team.7. Research and document applicable accounting treatment for certain business transactions.8. Perform various compliance-related projects such as census reports.9. Review contracts, identify potential accounting implications, research accounting treatment if necessary, and communicate findings to necessary cross functional departments timely.10. Assist with ad-hoc requests both internally and externally.11. Prepare cash flow and compile related documentation.12. Review support prepared by other departments for financial reporting pack and work cross functionally to ensure the schedules provided align with the consolidated parent company reporting.13. Document existing controls environment and design/implement new controls where necessary.The above responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with documented company policies and procedures. All of the above will be accomplished collaboratively but will also provide opportunities for independent decision making.Working Relationships:

This position will work closely with all Finance Teams and other key business segments/cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Fuel, IT and Store Operations, and will work with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate resolution of audit requests. Communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical.Minimum Education:

Bachelors Degree in AccountingPreferred Education:

Masters Degree in Accounting or MBAMinimum Experience:

2-3 years public accountingPreferred Experience:

2-3 years of public accounting experience at a Big Four firm with retail and/or real estate exposure and 1-2 years industry experience, preferably working in financial reportingLicenses/Certifications:

CPA required.
