Job Description
ResponsibilitiesEnsure timely filing of US income tax returns (corporate and partnership) for the private funds; including interaction with external advisors to co-ordinate collection of information and review the work/tax return prepared by the external advisor/tax return preparerManage K-1 and K-3 tax reporting process for the FundsManage investor tax questions and responsesWork with external advisors in gathering information quarterly and annually for REIT testing, including review of the external advisors' workManage US tax withholding on cash distributionsEnsure appropriate transfer pricing documentation is in placeManage US tax provision process for the FundsOversee any federal and state tax audits of US entities, including handling of notices received from taxing authoritiesOversee tax form validation for new investorsOversee tax functions and operations of certain portfolio company operationsManage the compilation of deal closing bindersPrepare ad-hoc tax analyses in relation to acquisitions, dispositions, and restructuringResearch technical tax and accounting issues and disclosure mattersKeep informed of changing laws and regulations to apply to Brookfield policies and practicesIdentify, develop, and direct the implementation of technology tools and process improvements to reduce low-value data collection time and efforts, and increase resource focus on analysis of results and variancesRequirements
Qualified CPA with 2-7 years of real estate tax experienceExperience at a Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firmExperience in private/industry is highly preferredTechnical knowledge of US real estate, REIT, corporate tax, and partnership tax rulesKnowledge of outbound tax compliance and experience with international tax researchExperience managing large tax compliance processes and assignmentsBasic understanding of cross-border tax issues and US treaty analysisAbility to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment, andExcellent project management skills and applies a pragmatic and efficient approach to handling complex assignments
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
