Automation Tester

Job DescriptionVirtusa is seeking an experienced Automation Tester with strong skills in Java Selenium and Cucumber to join our team. This role involves creating and executing automated tests to ensure software functionality and performance. As part of a hybrid team, you will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other testers to build high-quality, reliable applications. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about test automation and quality assurance.Key Responsibilities:Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java Selenium and Cucumber to validate software functionality and performance.Collaborate with development and product teams to understand application requirements, ensuring test coverage across functional and non-functional aspects.Conduct detailed analysis of test results, troubleshoot issues, and work closely with development teams to resolve defects.Implement and manage test frameworks, test data, and reporting tools to ensure efficient test automation processes.Identify opportunities for test process improvements and automation within the QA lifecycle.Participate in test planning, test case design, and test execution, providing insights and recommendations for enhancements.Report test results and metrics to project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity on quality metrics.Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices for automation testing.RequirementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.3+ years of experience in automation testing with a strong focus on Java Selenium and Cucumber.Proven experience in developing and executing automated test scripts for web applications.Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and testing methodologies.Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to finding solutions.Experience with version control systems, such as Git.Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins is an advantage.Preferred Skills:Familiarity with API testing and test automation for backend systems.Experience with cloud-based testing platforms (e.g., Sauce Labs, BrowserStack).Basic knowledge of performance and load testing tools.
