Job Purpose

DC&I Engineering is responsible for the specification, design, and implementation of innovative grid technologies on the distribution and transmission systems. They deliver on a range of projects associated with regulated capital work plans, grid modernization initiatives and customer enablement projects for Distributed Energy Resources. They are the go-to team providing solutions to new challenges that arise from the changing landscape of the electric grid.

Key Accountabilities

Support the development of all distribution and transmission control technologies in collaboration with our Electric Standards team.Develop customize control logic in devices such as recloser, voltage regulators, cap banks, fault indicators and distributed remote terminal units (RTU).Program and test data concentrators for integration of field devices into National Grid's SCADA systems.Support the integration and optimization of field area network for communications with National Grid's SCADA system. This includes cellular, licensed and unlicensed frequency systems.Program, simulate and deploy our Fault, Location, Isolation, System, Restorations (FLISR) schemes as part of our Grid Modernization Program.Work closely with our operations team to resolve any issues that arise with distribution and transmission field devices or control schemes.Must be able to work overtime and/or holidays, nights, weekends as required.Must be able to travel overnight outside the normal work areasSupervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Able to lead interdisciplinary technical teams to evaluate solution options and develop project scopes, cost estimates and project schedules.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering school is required.2+ years professional experience in an engineering field.Ability to manage small and large projects, working with external group resources, scheduling, and delivering results.Ability to prioritize work and be a team member on multiple projects at one timeValid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.

More Information

Salary: $90,000 - $127,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
