Job Summary:This position will be responsible for plant engineering activities which will include driving Continuous Improvement of the operations, ensuring the flawless launch of all new products/processes within the facility, and the maintenance of existing equipment/facilities.
Responsibilities:
Organizes, plans & manages all plant engineering and maintenance activitiesIdentifies equipment and facility needs and administers the capital budgetHelps to identify risks, analyze root causes, eliminate issues, and implement corrective actions in relation to safety, quality, production and equipment repairsMaintains & improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by:Implementing and maintaining a preventive maintenance programOperating and testing all equipment and systemsRestoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and partsDevelops all company internal/external policies and procedures to be used for engineering maintenance guidelines with a high priority on safety, quality and environmentPoint person for new projects and data analysisPlans and establishes engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimatesDirects department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, and improve production techniquesInitiates cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations for action, and checks on results obtainedDevelops and leads projects to improve machine reliability & overall manufacturing efficiencyAccomplishes objectives and manages employee outcomes by:Recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employeesCommunicating job expectationsPlanning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributionsPlanning and reviewing compensation actionsEnforcing policies and proceduresAccountable for the following KPI and applicable action plans:Plant capital ($ on time)Plant equipment downtime (% of planned production time)Plant equipment downtime (# of events)Planned Maintenance (% on time)Continuous Improvement ($ identified/achieved)Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager or Executive TeamQualifications:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or related field10 years of experience in, preferably in automotive or industrial manufacturingExperience with Presses, feeders & facilities equipmentKnowledge of robotics & associated controlsPrevious supervisor experience - in a union environment preferred

The majority of the time is spent in a normal office setting. It will frequently be necessary to spend time on the manufacturing floor in a shop environment where the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or equipment, loud noises, machining noise, warm temperatures, airborne particles, possible electrical shock, chemicals and fumes.
