Raleigh Water is seeking a motivated individual to join a team of electricians to service the department's wastewater treatment plants and pump stations, including North Carolina's only BioEnergy Recovery Project. Work involves technically skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation, PLCs and/or SCADA at wastewater treatment plants and lift/pumping stations.
Work Hours:Primary work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. This position is expected to participate in on-call rotation that may require evenings and weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains and troubleshoots electrical/electronic systems and control devices at wastewater treatment plant and pumping stationsInstalls, calibrates tests, cleans, and repairs instruments, controls, and metering devices, such as various flow meters, differential pressure or electronic transmitters and receiversServices and operates a variety of computer, instrumentation and electrical tools and meters. Assists with operating and maintaining PLC, SCADA systems within the plants and pumping stationsMonitors motors, starters, controllers, etc. through SCADA and computer software. Installs new equipment, conduit, wiring, devices, and instrumentation controls as approved by supervisor. Performs periodic calibration and observation checks of meters, recorders, PLCs and other associated equipmentMaintains electronic control valves, circuit boards, motor control centers, pumps, motors, and complex instrumentation systems. Calibrates, cleans, and maintains in-situ process instrumentation (i.e., dissolved oxygen monitors) and adjusts electronic motorsPerforms preventative and predictive maintenance on all electrical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment. Assists in preparation of related technical equipment specifications and maintains inventory of spare parts on hand, ordering and testing new equipment, materials, and repair parts where neededInspects all new additions or changes to electrical/electronic work performed by contractorsParticipates in and complies with all City and Division safety programsInitiates and fully completes CMMS Work Orders for all work activities to include complete and accurate labor and materials usage. Provides estimates of project time and material costs to Planner/Analyst, oversees requisitions for parts and services, and maintains appropriate records
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED and four years of journey-level electrician experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hireWastewater Collection System Operator or Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator certification and/or an electrical or other trades licensePreferred Qualifications:
Grade II Maintenance Technologist certification, or the ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire
