Bay Equity LLC, a direct mortgage lender, is seeking a Controller to work with our Finance team. This position will report to the VP of Finance and will be responsible for all corporate accounting functions. This individual will be a hands-on financial manager with a strong accounting background. Mortgage banking experience is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process, including journal entries and all supporting analyses to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of internal financial reporting to managementDirect and coordinate accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts, and Journal Entries.Manage the preparation of all general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliationsManage accounting procedures, processes and business systems to ensure high quality and efficient accounting and reportingEnsure the effectiveness of internal controls to insure the integrity of the accounting records and resulting financial statements and make recommendations and changes as neededMonitor outside events regarding accounting, reporting and compliance matters and evaluate their impact on the Company; make recommendations regarding the findings to the VP of Finance; research and implement new accounting pronouncements as applicableEnsure the timely completion of financial and tax auditsAssist with various compliance filings and informational reporting requirementsAct as a key representative of the Finance team in cross-functional groups and projectsProduce ad hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred5-7 years relevant finance and accounting experience that demonstrates a progression of responsibilities. Previous experience as a Controller in the mortgage industry is preferredStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP as applied to financial services companies
Experience with SOX compliance a plusAbility to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projectionsExperience with the use, implementation, testing and support of relevant computer automated financial and accounting reporting systems and software
Experience with lease management software a plus
Experience and knowledge of ASC 842 a plusKnowledge of federal and state financial lending regulationsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word)Knowledge of AMB (Accounting for Mortgage Bankers) and/or Loan Vision preferred
Experience with FloQast a plus
Experience with Concur a plus

We offer a comprehensive benefit package including; medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and we offer vacation and sick time. Compensation is based on experience and ranges from $120,000 - $140,000/yr. This is a full-time position.
