Duties and responsibilities include:
Review cases with the physicians, to include face to face consultation with physician and patients according to clinic policies.Write orders for care and other medical consultations per discussion with attending physicianDictate consult notes and chart progress notes.Serve as a liaison with the primary care providers.Integrate patient care between providers.Provide patient and family education-medications and diagnosis.Provide careful attention to all aspects of medical history and medication use.Prescribe and renew ENT medications.Obtain X-ray studies including but not limited to Otolaryngology evaluation, CT scan, MRI, Ultra sound, etc.Make referrals in a timely manner for evaluation or treatment by a physician ensuring continuity of care.Analyze data results of patient examinations and diagnostic tests to correctly diagnose and manage patients.Independently provide ENT health maintenance and disease management counseling, medication management, and general health care or home care instructions to patients and/or family members.Act as liaison and a resource between the patient/family and the physician, hospital, medical staff, or outside agencies involved with the patient care.Perform patient follow-up including returning phone calls, evaluating, and processing test results, dictating medical record information to include the assessment, intervention, and plan, progress notes, and discharge summaries.Complete reports requested by schools, outside agencies, referral sources, and payers.Serve as resource to nursing staff, assists in the development of new policies, programs, procedures, materials, or techniques for the ENT department.Participate in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance for the Mankato Clinic, the community, and region.Perform minor procedures including but not limited to flexible laryngoscopy, microscopic ear examinations for cerumen removal, suture removal, ear canal foreign body removal, nasal endoscopy, I&D of abscess or hematoma, epistaxis, removal of packing, splints and stents, placement of tubes, and assistance within office surgical procedures.Hospital Rounding for inpatient admissions.On call rotation with a supervising provider.Be available during Clinic hours for ENT same day add-ons and to provide accessibility to the practice in coordination with physicianAssure appropriate fees/billing codes are used for professional services according to current CPT guidelines and Medicare standards, working with the coders to ensure that the level of service charged for is supported by documentation in the patient record.Demonstrate understanding and follow policies and procedures.Maintain requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide patient care.Maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.Other duties as assigned
Work / life balance is an important part of provider's culture at Mankato Clinic. Physician and Advanced Practice Provider staff turnover are well below industry norms. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8a.m. - 5p.m. Full-time is 36 Patient Contact Hours weekly with 4 hours of administrative time, and a four-day workweek option is available. Clinics are closed on New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. Mankato Clinic also features a generous health benefits plan, $2,500 CME allowance annually and profit-sharing 401(k). Signing bonus is available.
