POSITION SUMMARY

The Deputy Director, Strategic Technology is responsible for the implementation of Information Technology (IT) systems in support of business operations to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, security, and provides strategic vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining information technology solutions that support the society's mission and vision. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Chief Information Officer and Deputy Director, IT Operations to plan IT strategy and develop and monitor technology budgets. They will have oversight responsibility for understanding all business units to be able to plan for the current and future technology needs of the society, define user requirements, analyze problems and determine solutions, implement new technology systems, and oversee technical assistance and manage vendor relations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWorks closely with the Chief Information Officer in the strategic planning of future IT systems to achieve business goals by fostering innovation and prioritizing IT initiatives.Designs and implements organizational standards and procedures for the utilization of information technology systems under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer.Supervises IT staff and manages vendors who provide IT services to ASH for all new IT initiatives.Ensures that all new IT initiatives meet the current needs of ASH and are positioned to support the growing needs of the society.Develops long-term strategies to ensure secure, efficient, and cost-effective information technology platforms and practices across the organization.Plans, develops, establishes and implements all phases of the organization's IT business management function in accordance with the objectives of the organization.Recognizes and communicates new developments in IT and aligns ASH's strategic goals with new technology.Builds consensus around the organization's IT vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads and end users.Confers and collaborates with organization officials in planning and setting the short-and long-term business objectives.Participates in Risk Management planning, identification and mitigation.Occasional attendance at and/or support of ASH-sponsored meetings and events outside of normal working hours (evenings and/or weekends).QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED

Bachelors required; advanced degree is strongly preferredMinimum of 7 years in complex IT and telecommunications systems and IT management.Experience in Salesforce, web development, database design (e.g., Windows, SQL, Exchange, Avaya), transaction processing, process mapping, financial systems implementation and customer support systemsExperience in effectively integrating Artificial Intelligence into the business operations.Experience in project management, business planning and integration of technology on both a strategic and tactical level; association experience preferred.Solid relationship management skills.Ability to deliver stellar customer service and deescalate problems with a calm demeanor, diplomacy, and humor (when appropriate).Ability to effectively enable collaboration and lead teams demonstrating role model behaviors.Excellent communication skills including public speaking, writing, active listening, and synthesizing information from diverse sources when working with colleagues, members, and volunteersAbility to organize and execute multiple high-quality programs on budget and according to established timelines.Strong ability to lead, mentor, motivate, supervise and develop others.

Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment.

ASH has a hybrid work environment, with core in-office days for all ASH staff on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and telework on Mondays and Fridays for eligible positions.

The Society's headquarters is in Washington, DC, and is within walking distance of several Metro stations on the Blue/Orange/Silver and Red lines.
