Job Overview:
Required Licenses and Certifications: CDL - B License, Hazmat, Tanker
Day Shift: Monday - Friday, including occasional weekends and on-call shifts.
The primary function of the Propane Bobtail Driver is to drive a straight truck, bobtail, or large propane tank for refilling in order to transport and deliver propane to clients. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the department manager.
Primary Duties:
Able to operate all vehicles assigned to them. Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Load propane as instructed at designed location using propane gun/nozzle.
Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels.
Complete all “pre-trip” requirements before each truck run and “post-trip” requirement at the end of each shift.
Able to push 96 pounds, pull 130 pounds, carry 54 pounds and climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs.
Able to operate handheld electronic devices.
Able to read and complete written documentation with respect to Bill of Lading, Inventory, Pre and Post trips inspections, Orders and Propane tickets. Ensure propane tickets match orders.
Transport propane from point of pickup to point of delivery in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain logs of vehicles service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
Work with dispatch to calculate the most efficient and effective route for delivery.
Deliver product in correct quantities as instructed by dispatch.
Inform dispatch and safety of any DOT fines, citations or any other relevant issues.
Communicate with Dispatch in regards to any potential customer issues such as; complaints, spills, leaks, incidents, accidents, injuries and vehicle issues.
Communicate with maintenance in regard to any vehicle issues or needs and report any issues immediately.
Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
May drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels.
Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
Good interpersonal skills.
Able to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress.
Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
3+ years truck driving experience.
Valid CDL class B license with a Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brakes endorsement.
Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification, and 7-year criminal background check.
