Family Health Ministries is a faith-based organization. The Executive Director of Family Health Ministries is responsible for the organization’s overall management and growth within the policies and guidelines as established by the Board of Directors. Duties include serving as the organization’s daily spokesperson, building relationships with similar national and international partners, organizational planning, fundraising, and overseeing office administration.Specific committee responsibilities:Assure that Family Health Ministries follows its long-range strategy to achieve its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.Provide and promote leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.Serve as staff support for standing committees and ad hoc committees as necessary.Promote active participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization’s work.Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.In Communications, the Executive Board of Director will:See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of Family Health Ministries and all important factors influencing it.Maintain a working knowledge of the continuing changing needs of the FHM partners in the field.Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with local and international organizations.Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.Represent the programs and point of view of Family Health Ministries to other agencies, organizations, and general public.In relations with staff, the Executive Director will:Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource guidelines are practiced.Maintain an effective management team. Encourage staff and volunteer development and education and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality.In budget and finance, the Executive Director will:Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.Work with staff, Finance Committee, and board in preparing a budgetSee that the organization operates within budget guidelines.Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.Jointly, with the president and secretary of the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with the designated officers, execute legal documents.In relations to fundraising:Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for achievement of Family Health Ministries’ mission.Research and meet with potential funding sources.Cultivate potential funding sources.Write funding proposals and submit necessary reports.Oversee all fundraising activitiesHours 32 hours per week with evenings and weekends as needed.Accountability and SupervisionAccountable to and supervised by the Board of Directors.QualificationsThree years of nonprofit leadership or senior management experiences.Prefer developing country experienceHealthcare experience is a plusDemonstrated fundraising skills.Strong written and oral communication skillsFrench or Haitian Creole language skills a plusExperience in the workplace fundraising arena.Ability to develop relationships with both the corporative and grassroots representatives.Demonstrated success in building coalitions.Visionary leadership.Strong administrative skills.
