Description
We are seeking multiple Principal Technical Program Manager to own and drive large, critical programs that span multiple teams and organizations at Amazon. You will manage complex technical programs involving machine learning models, artificial intelligence systems, and causal econometric models that improve employee experience for over 1.5 million Amazonians worldwide.
The scientific program areas our team leads apply cutting-edge technology and data-driven insights to enhance all aspects of work for employees and managers including benefits, compensation, recruiting, voice of employee, management practices, and organizational culture. You will coordinate cross-functional engineering, product, data science, and business teams to successfully deliver these programs. This involves developing detailed plans, schedules, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.
You will identify dependencies and enable seamless collaboration between technical teams building the AI/ML models, product managers defining requirements, data scientists providing insights, and business stakeholders across Amazon's employee services. Continuously monitoring progress, highlighting roadblocks early, and developing contingency plans will be critical. You will lead communication across various levels, including providing executive visibility into these high-impact programs.
You will work closely with senior business partners and our interdisciplinary team of UX researchers, data scientists, economists, and engineers to create positive employee experiences through innovative technology at Amazon's scale. Mentoring and developing more junior TPMs is also expected.

The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science Team uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms, process improvements and products, which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, wellbeing, and the value of work of Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal. We invest in innovation and rapid prototyping of scientific models, AI/ML technologies and software solutions to accelerate informed, accurate, and reliable decision backed by science and data.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years of technical product or program management experience
7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related technical field
Proven ability to influence without authority and drive results through leadership and collaboration
Experience leading Agile development processes for AI, machine learning, or quantitative modeling initiatives
Demonstrated ability to align cross-functional stakeholders and provide executive program visibility
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics or related quantitative field
Experience managing programs that apply machine learning, AI, or econometric modeling techniques
Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Knowledge of data science, quantitative research methods, and experimental design
Track record driving innovation and operational excellence in a technical program management role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
