Job Posting Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining and reconciling all accounts in the plant assets, long-term debt, payroll liabilities.
Qualifications
Administrative/Technical/Service
Responsible for the University fixed assets accounting and proper paperwork for capital projects, according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Calculation of annual depreciation expense and monthly reconciliation. Reconcile and maintain Banner Fixed Assets database.
Review and approve/deny fixed asset, long term debt, requisitions in Banner.
Monitor prepaid deposits for capital projects and construction in progress.
Prepare roll forward schedule for fixed assets.
Provide accounts reconciliation and analysis, including capitalization and depreciation of building, land and capital improvements, equipment, and computers.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline purchase, utilization, and disposal of fixed assets.
Liaison with Facilities and Technology Directors, Budget Director to discuss proper coding of capital expenditures and forecasting.
Reconcile capital lease accounts.
Prepare required audit schedules for assigned accounts.
Maintain roll-forward schedule of long-term debt trustee activity, debt accounts, including principal and interest payments including investigation and resolutions of discrepancies.
Reconciliation of US Bank statements. Book interest held at the banks.
Post interest income from Deposits Held by Trustee
Post Quarterly income/expense associated with Interest Rate Swap
Reconcile all bond related accounts, including the Deferred Bond Issuance Costs, Bonds Payable, Premiums/Discounts and Deposits Held with Trustees
Reconcile all payroll related liability accounts including investigation and resolutions of differences.
Prepare accrual entries and detailed analysis at month end to provide insight into fluctuations and alert management of any issues you may identify.
Prepare annual long-term debt and Fixed assets external reports.
Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
