Healthcare Accountant - Accounts Payable and General LedgerAlleviant Integrated Mental Health
Location: Little Rock, ARSalary Range:
$60,000 - $75,000 per year
Alleviant Integrated Mental Health is Arkansas's largest full-service, multi-site outpatient psychiatry practice. We are the primary referral source for many major healthcare systems and provide integrative psychiatric care to over 70,000 patients annually. We are seeking a
Healthcare Accountant
with expertise in
Accounts Payable
and
General Ledger
to support our growing financial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare accounting and the ability to handle a wide range of accounting tasks, ensuring the smooth financial operation of our organization.
Job Responsibilities:Accounts Payable (AP):
Process, verify, and reconcile invoices and payments.Ensure accurate and timely payment to vendors while maintaining strong vendor relationships.Manage AP aging reports and assist with month-end closing activities.Reconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies or issues.Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and healthcare regulations.
General Ledger (GL):
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are accurately recorded.Prepare and review journal entries for month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, and adjusting entries.Assist with financial reporting and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Conduct variance analysis, investigating and resolving discrepancies in account balances.Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and revenue transactions.
Healthcare Accounting:
Apply healthcare-specific knowledge to handle financial transactions in a healthcare environment.Work with clinical teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and financial documentation.Manage interactions with insurance payors regarding accounts payable or claims-related transactions.Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure adherence to healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA, and internal financial policies.Support annual audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.Assist in the preparation and filing of tax documents as required by federal and state regulations.Generate financial reports and dashboards for management, providing insights and analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA is a plus.3+ years of accounting experience in the healthcare industry
is required.Strong understanding of
Accounts Payable (AP)
and
General Ledger (GL)
functions.QuickBooks and a plus.Advanced knowledge of
Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Excel, with the ability to create pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other financial analysis tools.Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance and other applicable healthcare laws.Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Solid understanding of healthcare financial operations, including the interplay between billing, insurance payors, and general accounting.Familiarity with healthcare documentation and claims processes.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Ability to handle high-volume, detailed work while maintaining accuracy.Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues related to payables, ledger entries, and financial discrepancies.Job Context:
