Job Title: Accounts Payable AccountantJob Description
The Accounts Payable Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounts payable functions, including receiving, sorting, and auditing invoices and accounting documents. The role also involves obtaining authorizations for issuing payments, coding invoices with appropriate GL accounts and related project/budget codes, inputting information into the AP system, issuing checks, and recording automatic payments.
Responsibilities
Receive, sort, and audit invoices and accounting documents.
Obtain authorizations for issuing payments.
Code invoices with appropriate GL accounts and related project/budget codes.
Input information into the AP system, issue checks, and record automatic payments.
Record AP data to the GL and other systems.
Process credit card expense reports, travel expense reports, automatic payments, vouchers, and receivables.
Prepare reports and maintain records and files.
File 1099 Misc Forms and File 945 Taxes.
Effectively communicate with all levels of internal partnerships.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience within full cycle end to end accounts payable.
Experience with Concur is a huge plus.
Highly organized and able to implement/improve SOPs.
Knowledge of GAAP as it relates to recording expenses and AP/AR.
Knowledge of AP best practices and systems (Concur).
Knowledge of IRS reporting requirements for 1099 Misc forms and remittances for 945 taxes.
Knowledge of accruals and the month-end process involving accruals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
High level of organization is absolutely necessary.
Work Environment
The role offers a hybrid schedule for employees following successful completion of training. The work environment includes 4 days in the office, with the possibility of working 1 day from home if the candidate wishes. The accounting department currently consists of a team of 7, which will grow to 9 once fully staffed. The team includes 1 AP accountant, 3 staff accountants, 2 senior accountants, 1 assistant controller, and 1 controller.
