For decades, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass has been dedicated to matching mentors with at-risk children, and building long-term relationships that foster growth, confidence, and success. With a budget of approximately $1 million and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, our organization is poised for continued growth and expanded impact under the guidance of a forward-thinking Executive Director.
Position Overview
As the Executive Director, you will closely partner with our Board of Directors to develop strategic goals and implement initiatives that support our mission. You will oversee the organization's operations, including program development, financial management, fundraising, and community outreach. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to champion the cause of mentoring and drive meaningful change in the lives of children across Central Kentucky.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategic Planning : Lead the organization's vision and strategy, collaborating with the Board of Directors and staff to set and achieve long-term goals.Fundraising & Donor Relations : Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that strengthens relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.Financial Oversight : Manage the organization's finances, ensuring fiscal responsibility and timely communication of financial conditions to the Board.Board & Staff Development : Cultivate a high-performing team, attract and retain top talent, and maintain a strong and engaged Board of Directors.Program Excellence : Ensuring the success of programs by setting operational benchmarks and maintaining child safety is our top priority.Community Engagement : Act as the public face of the organization, building relationships with partners, volunteers, and the media to raise awareness and support for our mission.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion : Foster a culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that our programs and organizational practices reflect these values.Who We're Looking For
A visionary leader with a proven track record of nonprofit leadership, including 2-3 years of experience in an Executive Director or senior leadership role.Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Graduate degree preferred).Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor relations, with a history of managing major grants and cultivating donor relationships.Strong understanding of financial management in a nonprofit context.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience leading in this area.An inspiring communicator who can represent the organization in public forums and foster meaningful community partnerships.
