CLASS A CDL DRIVER

POSITION SUMMARY Delivers construction equipment and materials. Fuels and performs service on equipment. Performs maintenance or minor mechanic repair to keep equipment in repair. Duties include welding; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; and installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment. Under limited supervision, performs difficult routine work related to maintenance and performs related work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs equipment and material deliveries to job sites. * Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment, and repairs or replaces defective items as necessary, using hand tools and power tools. * Assembles, installs, or repairs wiring, electrical, and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. * Diagnoses minor mechanical problems, and determines the proper repair method, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. * Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunction. * Reads work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts. * Records type and cost of maintenance or repair work. * Fuels equipment on job sites. * Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position. * Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides written documentation of repair work completed. * Maintains maintenance logs. * Orders parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtains them from storerooms. * Installs or replaces glass in equipment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desirable but not required. * 2-5 years experience in mechanical repairs.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS * Must possess a valid state Class A commercial driver license. * Must possess a medical card and HAZMAT endorsement. * Forklift certification is preferred but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS * Ability to work varied shifts or extended hours, as required. * Ability to travel out of town for sometimes long periods of time. * Ability to make decisions and problem solve. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. * Ability to operate hand tools and basic power tools. * Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices used in construction and maintenance. * Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. * Understanding of technical operation, service, or repair manuals.
