The Principal Charity Classic is accepting applications for the 2025 Tournament Intern program. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while gaining experience in a range of event management tasks. The Principal Charity Classic will be held May 27 - June 1, 2025 and is managed by Eventive Sports Properties, a nationwide sports management company based in Birmingham, AL.About the Principal Charity Classic.

The Principal Charity Classic (PCC) is an annual PGA TOUR Champions event held at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA. The event attracts over 50,000 spectators, requires over 1,200 volunteers and partners with 250+ corporate sponsors. The event is televised internationally on the GOLF Channel and is one of the biggest sporting events in the state of Iowa. Since 2007, the tournament has contributed over $62 million in support of Iowa youth programs. Principal Charity Classic interns will work alongside full-time staff on many aspects of the event. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently on multiple projects, and a willingness to go above and beyond for tournament stakeholders. Interns will be asked to take ownership of key projects and will gain strong professional experience. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports management, marketing, communications, event management, or related field.The Role:

The Volunteer Services Intern will support staff members with:

General Program Management - Actively recruits, hires, trains, and retains volunteers to support the tournament, assist individuals with registering to Trust Event Solutions (volunteer registration portal) attends and participates in community events, promoting the Principal Charity Classic as a premier volunteer experienceVolunteer CRM Program Administration - Interns will help maintain the volunteer CRM system. Assist with managing volunteer assignments, communication with committee chairs on status of committees, etc. Past experience is not required, training in the system will be provided.Event support - Assist in planning and execution of various events - including but not limited to, volunteer appreciation, and uniform distribution. Interns will work within Volunteer Headquarters come tournament week.

Requirements:

Application information:

Internship timeframe: March - June 2025 (flexible depending on availability)Hours: starting at 10-20 hours per week, then increased hours immediately leading up to and during tournament week. Must be able to work extended and irregular hours including nights and weekends as event approaches and during event. Most work hours will be in a typical office environment at Principal Charity Classic's office. Working outside and on-site during event should be expected.
