This role offers hands-on experience and training in our biosecurity policies and processes across our Farms and support departments in Live Operations. Over a 12-month training period, you'll work closely with our team to develop expertise in biosecurity and continuous improvement. Upon completing the training, you'll be eligible for career advancement in the specified program of study within Seaboard Foods.The Biosecurity Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing biosecurity measures within our organization. Owned by Seaboard Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, and nominated as one of the "Best Places to Work" by Kansas City's Business Journal, we have a dynamic culture where our employees can contribute and understand why they matter.RESPONSIBILITIESFoster collaboration and communication among cross-functional teams, which include farms, support departments, contractors, and vendors that operate on our premises, to promote a culture of biosecurity awareness and accountability.Understand systems within Live Operations to effectively conduct regular risk assessments, identify potential biosecurity threats, take proactive steps to mitigate them, and work with Live Operations to implement updated policies.Lead or participate in outbreak investigations to identify the source, spread, and containment of biosecurity incidents.Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to biosecurity breaches, trends and performance metrics.Perform audits of biosecurity systems, implementing updates or changes as necessary to align with current industry standards and regulations.Assist continuous improvement team in the updates of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as needed.CORE COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS IN ALL ROLES:
instills trust, communicates effectively, action-oriented, ensures accountability, and drives results.QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Strong understanding of biosecurity protocols, infectious disease prevention, and management within animal production systems or Public Health.Innate curiosity and desire to learn and improve as it relates to biosecurity in the system and industry.Strong analytical skills to evaluate biosecurity measures, with experience in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, R, Python) and systems analysis to model and predict disease outbreak risks.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biosecurity Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field. A background in veterinary science or animal health engineering is a plus.Demonstrated ability to engineer creative and efficient biosecurity solutions to minimize disease spread. Skills in root cause analysis and process improvement would be beneficial.A valid driver's license and a clear motor vehicle record (MVR).Bi-lingual (Spanish and English).SCHEDULEExpected hours are Mon-Fri, 1 st
