Under the general direction of the Systems Administrator Supervisor, ensures effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure for multiple systems within Santa Fe County.Administers and maintains infrastructure as required to ensure uninterrupted availability of IT related systems and local/wide area networks.Performs daily system monitoring, including review of logs, to verify the integrity of hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.Repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures including coordinating and communicating with management, vendors and impacted departments.Executes daily backup operations ensuring that all required data is successfully preserved on appropriate media.Conducts periodic tests to validate recoverability of data and conduct formal recoveries as needed.Supports satellite offices and remote users including diagnostics, installation, and repair.Installs/rebuilds servers, routers, switches and hubs, and configures services in accordance with standards and project or operational requirements.Creates, administers, and manages user accounts.Upgrades and configures software in support of business applications.Performs security monitoring to identify and remediate possible intrusions.Provides periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.Participates in the identification of continuity/disaster recovery risks and mitigation plans; assists in the development and testing of disaster recovery plans.Conducts ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.Archives and purges files.Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions.Applies server patches and upgrades on a regular basis.Maintains installation and configuration procedures.Contributes to and maintains system standards.Provides Tier 2/3 support as needed.Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks including maintaining and upgrading administrative tools and utilities.Provide support to other members of the IT Division and troubleshoots escalated issues.Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment.Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange; of Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage Systems to include NetApp filers; and of supporting and troubleshooting MS SQL Server.Knowledge of and experience with Internet/Extranet/Intranet-facing environments.Knowledge of networking and voice over IP concepts.Ability to employ a best practices approach to issue resolution.Ability to communicate issues and resolutions effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff at all levels within the organization.Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal organization data.Ability to maintain a solid focus on customer service with attention to quality and detail.Ability to be self-motivated and resourceful.Ability to work independently and share results of assigned projects with team members.Skilled managing and supporting Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure; in troubleshooting Windows Server; and with VMware ESX server.Skilled in administration and support of computer hardware, network, servers, routers, switches, desktops, security, backups and email.Skilled in working with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, TCP/IP, Group Policy, MS Windows Server OS, Scripting, VMware/virtualization, Enterprise Antivirus & Data Backup management, NetApp SAN, MS Exchange, and MS Windows.Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other Information Technology related field; andFour (4) years relevant work experience in support of Microsoft Enterprise Solutions, Virtualization, Networking, Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery and Telecommunications.Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct work experience totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.Related education and experience may be substituted at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours equal to one (1) year experience.Individuals with certifications ( MCSE, MCSA, CCNA, etc. ) will be given additional consideration.Working Conditions:Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Work schedule may include evening, weekend, emergency call and call-back hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Clarity of vision at long and short distances required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically. May work near hazardous or moving equipment or machinery. May be subject to exposure to electrical hazards and hazardous materials; to dust, fumes, airborne particles, and other allergens; to excessive noise; and to CRTs and VDTs.Conditions of Employment:Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening. Additionally, selected candidate must submit to and pass a county paid criminal background screening. Selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License as incumbent shall be appointed to drive a County vehicle during the performance of his/her duties.
