Data Governance Lead

JM Family is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Governance Lead to join our Southeast Toyota Finance Data Governance team. The Data Governance Lead will be an innovative driver of the team’s marketing, communications, branding, and change management strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the sustainable growth of the company’s Data Governance and Data Stewardship practices that ensure our data assets are leveraged responsibly and effectively to deliver exceptional value.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and sustain marketing/communications/brand strategy plans that translate Data Governance program value into compelling messaging/storyboarding.
Develop, publish, implement, and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations on data governance initiatives, progress, and compliance for Data Governance Leadership and other key stakeholders as necessary.
Collaborate with business units and data owners to identify data domains, entities and attributes and associated business events and capture data management requirements including data quality and governance.
Recommend data governance, data quality and behavioral metrics to measure the progress of the Data Governance program.
Support efforts to implement data classification and data categorization schemes to ensure proper handling and protection of sensitive data.
Provide guidance and support to data stewards and data owners in their roles and responsibilities related to data governance.
Stay updated with industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements related to data governance and support efforts to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws.
Educate and raise awareness among associates about data governance principles, policies, and practices through training programs and communication initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance is integrated into various data-related initiatives, such as system implementations, data integration, data migration, and analytics projects.
Drive continuous improvement efforts in data governance technologies, practices, and processes to enhance data quality and integrity.
Provide support to Data Governance team members and drive tactical alignment on Data Governance data-related initiative project deliverables.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data governance practices meet regulatory requirements.
Support Data Governance Manager on data governance audits and assessments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Data, BIS, STEM or related field. Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
PROSCI or comparable change management practitioner certification preferred.
Proven experience (8+ years) in data governance (preferred), data management, or a related field.
Proven experience (3+ years) in program marketing strategies.
Proven experience (3+ years) in communications strategies for Data Governance Program branding.
Strong data management and subject matter expertise on a data management platform or equivalent data management toolset (Microsoft Purview preferred), including data governance, data catalog, data lineage, data privacy, and data quality.
Strong understanding of critical data element governance best practices, industry standards, and principles including lineage, quality, data classification, controls, lifecycle management, and ownership requiring attention, remediation, and maintenance.
Experience working with business user communities to support data management requirements.
Project management skills to drive data governance initiatives and ensure timely delivery with quality results in an efficient and effective manner.
Engages with stakeholders at all levels to encourage collaboration, strategic alignment, and build relationships.
Embraces innovation and efforts to elevate and evolve processes.
Excellent analytical capabilities, leadership presence in content delivery, critical thinking, and the ability to translate complex data governance requirements into practical solutions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders.
